Dr. Pearlstein graduated from The Scholars Program at Brooklyn College, Summa Cum Laude, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. His Doctor of Medicine degree was conferred at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. His internship in Internal Medicine was completed at Maimonides Medical Center. He did his Ophthalmology residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he was elected Chief Resident. An additional year of specialized training was done in Advanced Anterior Segment Surgery at The University of Minnesota. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. The American College of Surgeons inducted him as a fellow and he has been on their board of admissions. Dr. Pearlstein is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He has been widely published in medical journals as well as numerous Ophthalmology textbooks.
Dr. Pearlstein has been featured in New York Magazine's Best Doctors as well as the Castle Connolly Top Doctors.
